About Jill Meehan

Jill has been playing guitar & piano since she was a small child. Performing at Churches, Weddings, Hotels, Music Festivals, private functions, community events she is also a Singer/Song writer who is very passionate about issues which affect us all (the environment, equality, love, nature, sustainability, life!)

 

Jill was born in NSW in the early 1960's and was influenced by performers from the 'Protest' era, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Don Maclean, Donovan, James Taylor etc. She travelled as a child with her parents around three different states and settled in QLD then Victoria, where she has spent most of her adulthood.

 

Now Based in the Bellarine region n Geelong VIC Jill plays regularly at community shows (see 'community shows' page) and has also performed at Music Festivals such as Pako Fest Geelong 2015 - 2016/Highland Gathering Festival Geelong 2015 - 2016/Festival of the sea Barwon Heads 2012 - 2016/Port Fairy Folk Festival 2013/Victorian Bush Poetry & Music Festival Benala 2007 - 2016/Deni Ute Muster Deniliquin 2004/Man from Snowy River Festival Corryong 2002 - 2011/Tamworth Country Music Festival 2001/Maldon Folk Festival 1997 - 2002/Mallacoota Arts Festival 1995/Narranderra John Obrien Festival 2012 and she regularly performs at festivals such as:

  • When Bush comes to town (Portarlington)
  • VIC Bush poetry & music Festival (Benala)

Her main styles include Hybrid Folk/Blues/Rock/Country/Spiritual. Audiences are continually mesmerised by her unique guitar playing & her strong lovely voice! They also say she is very versatile! A lover of music & life she hopes to be sharing her songs with people for years to come!
